Our Approach
PRDC offers a team approach to residential care. With a physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, psychologist, and dietician as consultants, we are able to monitor the full progress of each resident. This team of professionals regularly sits down with nursing and administrative staff to develop comprehensive treatment and prevention plans which suit the needs of the individual. Everything is assessed, including independent living skills, communication skills, psychosocial functioning, cognitive skills, functional mobility, musculoskeletal alignment, gross and fine motor skills, nutritional needs, and general health. Goals are set for each resident and their progress is continually monitored by staff.
Our Care
In their home environment, residents have 24-hour staff by their side. With each home containing only five to ten residents, the care received is personal and individualized. Our staff makes every effort to ensure that residents have the highest possible level of control in their day-to-day lives. Staff members encourage residents to communicate their needs and desires. For example, with some assistance, residents can choose their leisure activities, their snacks, and pick out their clothes for the day. Staff also accompanies residents on outings, whether to a doctor’s appointment, a shopping trip, or a community event. They are there every step of the way.
Our Families
At PRDC, our doors are always open to family. Not only do parents and guardians maintain total control, but they are encouraged to stay involved in the lives of their child as much as possible. As a parent or guardian, you have the right to choose your child’s doctor and dentist and are encouraged to attend appointments. You are invited to your child’s plan of care meetings; you approve every treatment plan; your voice is always heard. Visiting hours are 24/7, and for more personal quality time, you are always more than welcome to pick your child up for home visits or a leisurely outing.
